If you ever needed to just export a project to Excel from Project Server Web Access, you might have very well encountered the same error message as I have:
“The ActiveX control on which this feature depends could not be created. Because of this error, you can only copy the XML data to the Clipboard. Do you want to continue?”
Fortunately there is a quick fix for this!
The next steps apply to Internet Explorer 8 RC1 and with possible slight variations will work on Internet Explorer 7 (they worked for me):
- Add the Project Web Access’s URL to Trusted Sites.
- Edit the Trusted Sites Security Settings and set the “Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting” to Prompt instead of Disabled:
